Dracula

The fresh blood of the renown St John's College Arts Department will be on display this August for their 2022 production of Dracula: A Comic Thriller, by Kent R. Brown. There's a lot at stake in this thrilling, nail-biting play which the cast and crew have been sinking their collective teeth into for most of the year.

Forty St John's students from Years 7 to Year 12 will tread the boards as they spin this iconic tale of horror into a fast-paced and comical vampire hunt. The play follows Count Dracula and his lovely vampire groupies, the Draculettes as they leave their beloved Transylvania in search of more tasty morsels in Victorian England. But when they leave their castle in the Carpathian mountains, these vampires don't expect to encounter a heroic band of vampire hunters, led by the feisty nieces of world-famous detectives, Holmes and Watson, as well as the daughter of the celebrated vampire hunter himself, Dr Van Helsing.

The cast and crew have collaborated with the SJC Music and Art Departments throughout the year to see this play come to life. The fast pace of this madcap adventure relies so much on technology, sound and music to portray the varied settings from the Count's gothic Transylvanian castle to the busy streets of London. This certainly sounds like a show to get your pulse racing and your blood pumping! Performances will be held at the Mountain Creek State High School's theatre on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th of August. Tickets available from St John's College, (07) 5441 5666.
