Year 7 2019 Update

As at 28 August 2018

We would like to invite parents and Year 7 students for 2019 to our Orientation Afternoon on Wednesday 19 September, 2018.  Where possible, Year 7s will also meet their “Buddy" on this afternoon.  Our current Year 10 students will take any families who are interested on a college tour between 4.30pm and 5pm.  There will be afternoon tea followed by an information session from 5pm and finishing at 6.00pm.  Students will receive an information booklet with details to help them prepare for the year ahead, including their School House and Pastoral Care Group.

  • Please make your way to our MPC (Multi Purpose Centre) above the car park.
  • There is no need to reply to this invitation.
  • Mrs Marie Stokes, our Uniform Convenor, will be in touch with families in order to organise uniform fittings later in Term 4.

We encourage parents and students to attend this afternoon and look forward to greeting you next year. The Year 7s will take part in “The Wise-Up Program" (Welcome Into Secondary Education – Unleashing Potential) in the first week and a half of school in 2019.

As at March 2018

Thank you to those families who have registered an interest for your child to become part of our St John’s community in 2019.  St John’s is a very special community where young people have the opportunity to explore, transform and create another chapter in their life.  It would be our honour to share this journey with your child.

The next stage involves submitting your enrolment application and arranging a time from Monday 12th – Friday 23rd March for an enrolment interview.  The interview will be conducted by one of the Leadership Team and aims to discover a little bit about your child and who they are, their interests and what they enjoy about learning.  It is also a chance for you to ask some questions of us and discover what more St John’s can offer you and your family.

We would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to a parents only special Parent Information Night that we are holding this Tuesday 6th March during our ‘Digital Citizenship Week.  Our Parents & Friends have co-sponsored the guest presenter Mrs Leonie Smith: The Cyber Safety Lady, to speak to our parents about how they can assist their children to be safe online, how the digital world works and how to use it safely.  The evening begins at 6.30 pm in the College’s MPC, where the Year 7 Information Night was held.  Please register your attendance via email, snambour@bne.catholic.edu.au. If you do wish to bring your child/children on the night, please let us know as our senior students have offered supervision.

Once again, thank you for considering St John’s College as a learning environment for your child and we look forward to finding out more about your family in the upcoming enrolment interviews.

Sincerely

Mr Brett Jones
